Velvet Plate collects what we need to deliver your meal plans and run our business — name, email, billing info, and (for personalized tiers) your age, weight, height, allergies, and wellness goals. We don’t sell your data. We don’t share it with anyone except the service providers who help us deliver what you paid for. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.
1. Who we are
Velvet Plate is operated by Velvet Plate LLC, a Texas limited liability company with its registered address at 5900 Balcones Drive STE 100, Austin, TX 78731. In this Privacy Policy, “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Velvet Plate LLC. “You” refers to anyone who visits velvetplate.com or interacts with our services.
2. What information we collect
Information you give us directly
- Contact information: first and last name, email address, phone number, billing address.
- Wellness profile (for Velvet Plate Plus, Experience, and Concierge members only): age, gender, weight, height, allergies, dietary preferences (e.g., vegetarian, pescatarian), and wellness goals.
- Payment information: processed by Stripe, Inc. and PayPal, Inc. We do not store full credit card numbers on our servers. Stripe and PayPal handle payment processing under their own privacy policies.
- Communications: any messages you send us (email replies, support requests, chat messages).
Information collected automatically
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring website.
- Usage data: pages visited, time on pages, links clicked, time of visit.
- Cookies and similar technologies: see Section 6.
3. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Deliver the products and services you’ve purchased (meal plans, member content, founder-only content, support).
- Generate personalized meal plans based on your wellness profile (Plus, Experience, and Concierge tiers).
- Process payments and prevent fraud.
- Send you transactional emails (order confirmations, plan delivery, account changes).
- Send you marketing emails if you’ve opted in (you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email).
- Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support.
- Analyze how our website is used to improve it.
- Comply with our legal obligations.
4. Special handling of health information
The information you provide for personalized meal plans (age, weight, height, allergies, dietary preferences, wellness goals) is not “Protected Health Information” under HIPAA because Velvet Plate is not a healthcare provider or covered entity. However, we recognize this information is sensitive, and we treat it with the same care we’d want for our own.
- We use your wellness profile only to generate your personalized meal plan and tailor your member experience.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your wellness profile with advertisers, data brokers, or third parties for marketing.
- We do not use your wellness profile to make decisions about your insurance, employment, or credit.
- You can update or delete your wellness profile at any time from your member portal or by emailing us.
- If you have a medical condition, we strongly recommend you consult your physician before starting any Velvet Plate program. Velvet Plate is a wellness system, not medical advice.
5. Who we share information with
We share your information only with:
- Service providers who help us run our business (payment processors, email delivery, analytics, customer support tools, hosting). These providers are contractually bound to use your information only for the services they provide to us.
- Legal authorities if we’re required by law, court order, or to protect rights and safety.
- Successors if Velvet Plate LLC is acquired or merged into another company, in which case the new owner will be bound by this Privacy Policy.
We do not sell your personal information.
6. Cookies and tracking technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to make our website work, remember your preferences, understand how visitors use the site, and (with your consent where required) deliver relevant marketing. The specific services we use may include:
- Essential cookies for site functionality (login, cart, security).
- Analytics cookies (e.g., Google Analytics) to understand site usage in aggregate.
- Marketing cookies (e.g., Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel) to measure ad performance and serve relevant ads — only with your consent where required by law.
- Email engagement tracking via Klaviyo to see if you opened our messages and clicked links.

7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights:

- Opt-out of “sale” or sharing for targeted advertising: We do not sell personal information, but if applicable laws (such as California’s CCPA or Texas’s TDPSA) treat targeted advertising as a “sale,” you can opt out.
- Portability: Receive your information in a portable format.

8. Data security
We use reasonable physical, technical, and administrative safeguards to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Our website uses HTTPS encryption. Payment information is handled by PCI-compliant processors (Stripe, PayPal). Despite our efforts, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period after to comply with legal, tax, and accounting requirements. If you ask us to delete your information, we’ll do so within 30 days unless we’re required to retain it by law. Wellness profile data is deleted within 30 days of account closure unless you specifically request earlier deletion.
10. Children
Velvet Plate is not intended for and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe we’ve collected information from a child, please contact us and we’ll delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we’ll notify you by email (if we have your address) and post the updated policy on our website with a new effective date. Continued use of our services after the updated policy takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
